First prosecution against a Briton for going to Syria to oppose Islamic State.
Brooklyn Lawrepresented Aidan James who faced a re-trial at the Old Bailey. This is the first prosecution against a Briton for going to Syria to oppose Islamic State. Mr James had originally been cleared of terrorism charges in April. In his second trial he was cleared of a second charge of attending a place of terror training with Kurdish YPG units – or ‘People’s Protection Units’ in Syria. He will be sentenced for training in weapons with the PKK in Iraq.
